Buy 500 hacked Twitter accounts for less than a pint

Hacker offers entry-level cyber crime service.

A Russian website is hawking thousands of hacked Twitter and Facebook accounts for less than $10.

The site was established in April this year and offers punters up to 5000 Twitter accounts for $45, down to 500 for $7.50.

Facebook accounts were slightly cheaper with 1000 costing $10.50 and 500 for $6.

The most expensive accounts were for European social network VK where 1000 went for $57 and the cheapest were a series of compromised Russian-based email accounts.

LiveJournal was earmarked but not yet available on the site.

The fraudster claimed the accounts, sold openly on his website first spotted by Webroot researcher Dancho Danchev, were almost all active.

The service was suited for social engineering and spamming purposes, considered entry-level cyber criminal activity similar to the iframe traffic redirection service reported by SC in January.
