This product combines both agent-based and agentless monitoring and configuration management to meet the needs of compliance policy across the organization. With Tripwire Enterprise, administrators can easily manage many compliance standards. It is quite easy to install and deploy. The console and management application, as well as the server, is deployed from an executable that uses a short setup wizard to install all the necessary components. Once everything is installed, all management is done through a nicely laid out, web-based console. The true power in this product comes from its flexibility. Tripwire Enterprise can do both agent-based and agentless monitoring, virtual infrastructure monitoring, compliance reporting, file integrity monitoring and compliance remediation. Beyond that, it comes fully loaded with templates and policies and can be integrated with Tripwire Log Center. Documentation was comprised of several PDF manuals, including installation and full user guides. We found all the documents to be well-organized with many clear, step-by-step instructions. However, there was a lack of any visuals, including screen shots and diagrams, that are a very helpful part of documentation. Tripwire does not offer any free support, but customers can purchase phone, email and online assistance. At a cost of about $6,500 for the console license, plus other additional fees for device licenses and support, this product can become quite pricey for some environments, both small and large. Although we find this to be a very powerful product, it does come with a price.
