Cisco is advising administrators to update their wireless routers following the release of a new security patch.

The update addresses flaws in the Cisco Wireless LAN Controller, Catalyst 6500 Wireless Services Module and Catalyst 3750 Integrated Wireless LAN Controller lines.

Four vulnerabilities are addressed in the update, three of which could be exploited to cause a denial of service on the router. A fourth could allow the attacker to gain escalated privileges and access a targeted system with full administration rights.

Cisco noted that only the Wireless LAN Controller is subject to the escalated privilege vulnerability. None of the four vulnerabilities is currently believed to be exploited in the wild.

Administrators can obtain the update from Cisco's web site. The company said that there is no known way to mitigate the vulnerabilities other than installing the patch.
