Data recovery firm Kroll Ontrack has opened a new cleanroom facility in Brisbane at a cost understood to be in the "low six figures".

It replaced the firm's original cleanroom built in 2005.

The firm's Asia Pacific general manager Adrian Briscoe said customer growth had necessitated the investment.

The new facility was equipped with high efficient particulate air (HEPA) filters capable of trapping at least 99.97 per cent of particles of 0.3 microns.

An air curtain also ensured that "clean, rarified air resided in the location of any hard drive being recovered, keeping potential contamination at bay", the company said.

The facility also housed a shipping department and spare parts inventory warehouse.

Briscoe said the facility would enable Kroll Ontrack "to process jobs faster using the latest techniques to manage recent advances made in the manufacturing of computer media, especially hard drives and solid state devices."
