Wholesale IP network provider Vocus Communications has suffered a distributed-denial-of-service attack as part of a wider attack on US servers.
The attack started at midnight last night and lasted for 1 hour 20 minutes, causing connectivity disruptions across multiple websites.
Vocus CEO James Spenceley told iTnews that the company was affected as part of a large-scale distributed attack.
He said that services suffered major congestion but there was no significant down time caused.
"There were connectivity issues suffered as a consequence, and a degredation of service in certain locations," he said.
"We're still analysing the data to determine more specific details."
The attack comes after web hosting firm Web24 suffered a prolonged DDOS attack, which caused connection problems for the Vocus network in March this year.
Spenceley said that no Australian companies were severely affected as a result of last night's attack.
