Google fixes Gmail's spam-like error

One last Groundhog Day.

Google has reassured Gmail users that their emails will not continue to be re-sent over and again.

Since Tuesday, dozens of Google's webmail customers have complained of emails being re-sent without their command.

Today Google said its engineers had found the "root cause" of the problem, but warned that Groundhog Day might come around one last time.

"The messages of yours that were re-sent automatically over the past few days may be re-sent once today if they have not been already, but should not be re-sent again after the one time today," a Google employee named Mr Evan wrote today on its support forum

Google claimed that the flaw was "an isolated issue", but conceded that it had caused some "uncomfortable situations".

A user was concerned Google's error threatened his business relationships.

"Three recipients of my gmail messages (sent using firefox) have complained that they are recieving the same message three to four times over. And they want me to do something about it! Gmail, please help as these are important business clients," the user wrote on Google's forum.

"Painful problem when you are unintentionally harassing business contacts," another user wrote.
