Cyberoam hunts for firewall, education resellers

Reseller numbers accelerating.

Security vendor Cyberoam has unveiled its 2011 channel growth strategy, which includes a plan to target "competitive" firewall and education resellers across Australia.

"We are definitely going to competitive resellers that sell firewalls," said Alkesh Soneji, country manager for Cyberoam.

“Education is a vertical that we’re very comfortable with. We have customers in universities and schools. It’s a huge vertical and it’s lucrative,” he added.

Cyberoam planned also to invite Australian and New Zealand partners to a three day summit this September in Port Douglas.

The vendor's offerings include: identity-based unified threat management; logging and reporting; SSL VPN and endpoint data protection.

Local distributors include MPA Systems and TechPlus. Alkesh said he planned to stick with the two distributors in Australia and "grow with them”.

MPA Systems’ director Guy Goodman who signed Cyberoam in 2008 said Cyberoam accounted for 25 percent of his business.

“And it seems to be accelerating,” he said.  “We’ve increased our resellers quite dramatically to 250.

“Half are certified [in Australia]. So that means we’ve got some fairly smart people out there,” he said.

MPA said it offered resellers a range of loyalty programs and try and buy offers with discount rates.

“It’s a good incentive... a lot of people take it up,” he said.
