Hard drives will be crushed for charity at next week's Infosecurity Europe exhibition.

Following a debut at last year's show for Bustadrive, founder Ross Waterton said that the company raised £350 ($A540) for Help for Heroes through donations from visitors but this year he was targeting the security vendors also.

“This year, I am offering a hard drive crushing service for charity, but this time for exhibitors only," Waterton said.

"The idea is to offer a safe hard drive crushing service for charity with donations from those whose drives we crush.

“This year we have a new portable unit to show which incorporates the existing unit into a Peli case for transporting between site and this has been very popular with companies.”

He also said that he is happy to offer the services to delegates too, but there will be a cap of five drives per delegate with a minimum charge of £3 a drive, which will be donated to Help for Heroes.
