Stay Safe Online.org pushes malware

Site hit with malicious iFrame injection.

The brains behind the US National Cyber Security Awareness Month have warned visitors to staysafeonline.org may have been infected with malware

The National Cyber Security Alliance industry group noticed that the security awareness website had hosted a malicious iFrame which pushed malware to users who visted the site between October 5 abd 11.

Security professionals andincluding those from the US based Multi State Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (MS-ISAC) alerted the alliance to the problem.

Staysafeonline.org was taken offline until the infection was removed.

National Cyber Security Alliance executive director Michael Kaiser said most anti-virus prograns had blocked the malware.

"We strongly recommend that you scan your computer," Kaiser said.

"As we always recommend, you should have the most current, up-to-date software, including operating system, security, firewall, and web browser, as well as any additional applications you use.

"Keeping Internet safe and secure requires the vigilance of all of us"
