Comodo flags its certificate service as suspicious

Bug fixed, reputation red flags clear.

In brief: Comodo’s online certificate status protocol (OCSP) service was flagged as suspicious this week by both McAfee and the company’s own site inspector checks.

The site was reported as distributing malware this week, preventing some users who had activated mandatory OCSP checks from accessing sites.

The gaffe has since been cleared.

The OCSP service allowed users to verify individual revoked SSL certificates.

SANS Institute Johannes Ullrich said its Internet Storms blog was affected.
