Utah firm opts for patching service

A 1,200 employee firm in Utah has outsourced its patch management to Computer Associates.

CA is providing 24/7 support on vulnerabilities and recommending patches that nutritional products firm Neways International requires.

Based on its research, CA will flag the patches that Neways needs.

"I have a small IT staff and I like it like that," said Rick Evans, senior vice president of communications and technology. "Vulnerability management lets my team be more productive. By doing this we can do what we do. Nothing would be worse than neglecting our routine jobs. We don't want to do the last minute scramble."

Under the service, patches can be deployed automatically, if the firm wishes.

Neways has 24 offices world-wide. The announcement was made at CA World in Las Vegas.
