Detective Constable Andy Cookson picked up the award and said he was delighted the CCU's work was finally being recognised.
Speaking at the Infosecurity Europe Conference in London this week, industry professional heaped praise on the work of the forensics team.
"The CCU has done a lot of fantastic things you've never heard about," said Edward Gibson, assistant legal attaché for the FBI at the U.S. Embassy in London. "We now have a single point of contact that streamlines the reporting process and the national cooperation manual has been completely revamped. They're making sure criminals don't get away."
Talking at the same conference Detective Inspector Chris Simpson of the CCU said that there was still work to be done.
"Ecrime is on the increase, many jurisdictions lack a credible response to crime," he said. "Is it controllable? Yes, with the resources."
