Aussie launches secure transaction technology at Paris show

Known as the Emue Card, it features a 12-button keypad and embedded alphanumeric display and microprocessor integrated into a standard ISO compliant payment card.

Brendan McKeegan, CEO of Emue Technologies said the device allows authentication, transaction integrity and identity protection capabilities to be embedded in a credit card.

“The Emue solution removes the need for users to enter their PIN or password into an unsecure device such as a web browser or mobile telephone and is considered one of the most advanced solutions available on the market today,” McKeegan said.

The Emue Card has a number of secure ‘modes’ for use across multiple channels including the web, telephone, and point-of-sale. For example, a user can enter his or her secret PIN into the card’s keypad to generate a numeric pass-code for one-time use that replaces the need for a password for online access, a static PIN for ATM use and a written signature for non EMV based credit card purchases, said McKeegan.

“The card can also be used to create a digital signature for all forms of remote financial transactions, without the need for users to carry a separate device, such as a smart card reader,” McKeegan added.
