StillSecure Safe Access is a complete NAC appliance that stops unauthorised access, prevents malicious endpoint activity and enforces compliance. This product provides agentless, agent-based and ActiveX-based protection along with several enforcement methods, including 802.1x, dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP), VPN and endpoint-based. This allows for solid flexibility to work within any network infrastructure.
We found this product to be a fairly straightforward install. Once we connected the appliance to the network, we were able to access the web-based setup wizard, which configures general network and license information. After the initial setup is complete, all configuration and management is done from the web GUI.
The Safe Access solution features a highly flexible policy engine, which comes preloaded with three basic policies. These security policies provide an easy way to get started in assigning various policy groups.
A PDF installation guide and separate user guide are provided with the appliance on a CD. We found both guides to be well-organised and easy to follow with many screen shots and step-by-step instructions.
StillSecure provides standard telephone and email support to all its customers Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Mountain Time. Customers can also purchase a premium support plan, which includes 24/7/365 technical support. There is also a small support area on the website, which includes a FAQ section, updates and a resource library.
At a price for a 2,500-user deployment running at about US$20 per IP, this tool can be quite expensive, but it does provide a lot of flexibility and functionality for the price. We find it to be a good value for the money.
