The components include: assessment, compliance, issues and remediation, threat and vulnerability, audit management, incident management, policy and exception management, controls testing, vendor risk, and enterprise risk/risk register.
The platform is delivered as either on-premise software or as a cloud-based offering. The on-premise solution deploys in a two-tier web server/database server model, requires MS Windows 2008 Server, IIS 5.0 or higher, .NET Framework and proper MS SQL licensing.
The product is structured in three tiers: the framework elements, the data gathering and the analysis and reporting tier. Assessments are easy to create, deploy and manage. There is an automated workflow for delivering the assessments via email. There is a strong feature that delivers assessment questions in the form of a spreadsheet. When that is complete and sent back, the data is automatically pulled into the tool. Also, there is an out-of-the-box assessment option using the context-driven survey system, as well as comprehensive control libraries.
The risk analytics capability uses the built-in risk management methodology and risk-scoring, which has the ability to adapt to various custom risk management and threat assessment methodologies and scoring. The risk analytics module assists in creating dynamic rules that maximize management of policies, risks and findings - allowing customers to define their own custom, risk-driven rule sets using a simple GUI. The output of the assessments, threat and vulnerability imports generates "findings." Further, a built-in workflow creates tasks for remediation and manages exceptions.
Rsam provides a fully automated policy management lifecycle. In Rsam, policy structures support unlimited hierarchical levels, and policies can be authored directly in Rsam or imported from Word, Excel, databases or web API calls. Policies can be linked to Rsam's robust content library encompassing 10,000-plus, road-tested controls, which are carefully cross-mapped across compliance/industry standards. The application is fully integrated between the risk and policy tools and the correlation of findings back to the specific control level, summarized in reports and dashboards and through all the other modules.
Rsam's reporting engine comes equipped with 50-plus prebuilt report templates with filters, scope and custom groupings. Reporting was impressive. There are numerous out-of-the-box risk management reports and a useful "drag & drop" dashboard builder. There are widget options that one can use to create custom reports. The product also uses SQL Server Reporting Services and one can run stored procedures inside these widgets to pull in or report on anything in the database. Too, there is a universal API import engine so that users can pull in data from any existing source. Rsam comes with both predefined mappings to industry-leading tools, as well as the flexibility for customers to create their own using a simple mapping universal connector interface. The correlation capabilities are done well and presented in a clean, roll-up dashboard.
There is a single support model: 12/5 for 20 percent of the license fees. No documentation was sent for us to review, so we can't comment on its completeness.
