This solution is again reliant on enterprise management, but for the teleworker who requires a standalone solution BlackICE PC Protection is still available. RealSecure Desktop Protector (formally known as BlackICE Agent for Workstations) is the enterprise version.
Integrated with RealSecure ICEcap Manager it provides integration with firewall and IDS via a distributed agent. This means that the user does not have to worry about being up to date, as the Manager does it all for them. Desktop Protector works with a VPN product to support teleworkers and other remote connections, delivering enterprise security to their desktops.
All the updates and product enhancements are delivered to the user's desktop with ease, as this function is totally automated and neither relies on the user's knowledge nor awaits his or her manual intervention. This makes the Desktop Protector a valuable application for large organizations that need to control their security in and out of the office environment. Desktop Protector can initiate reporting too.
There are levels of control that the administrator can set on configuration, but the most secure setting is 'total ICEcap control,' whereby everything is set from the administrator's end and the user cannot change anything. This means that firewall and application settings are completely protected.
Installation can also be achieved remotely, making the whole process end-user free. This ensures that the Desktop Protector is put in place and correctly installed for fast and efficient security levels to be expedited. The only user task is to ensure an anti-virus scan is completed and that the scanner is then inactive during installation.
Legacy OS users do have the ability to stop Desktop Protector manually, but as soon as they restart their computer it will automatically launch to protect their computer from unauthorized access and other malicious internet security breaches.
