Alexey Gromyko, previously business development manager A/NZ, will head up the office co-ordinating all Kaspersky Lab operations as its new director of channels.
Gromyko told CRN the company is currently restructuring its local distributor and partner levels in accordance with the move.
It is actively looking for an R&D team and has already agreed to stock its products in five Tier 2 retail chains, which it will announce in the coming months.
He also wants to set up an accreditation program for resellers.
“Kaspersky Lab has been present in the Australian and New Zealand markets for over a decade. Our market share is growing rapidly in the region, with many local companies and government institutions as our customers," said Gromyko.
He said Kaspersky Lab currently collaborates with four distributors in Australia and two in New Zealand, but this will extend to six in total.
He said the new office will benefit customers because it will be able to co-operate with partners more closely and improve the quality of technical and marketing support.

Details of the Melbourne office have yet to be finalised.
